There was a rumbling noise from behind the crevice where she had fallen. She was literally watching the phosphorus burn a hole through her pants. Angie couldn’t see much but she could hear moaning from somewhere beyond what was left of the cask prop.

Voices were coming closer and she coughed, unable to catch her breath. She knew she shouldn’t try to inhale but she couldn’t help it.

"Oh God, Angie!" she heard Rollie call out to her. She started to speak but the phosphorus filaments had started to embed in her skin and burn and she cried out in agony.

His strong arms were pulling her out. His face was a mask of emotional anguish as she knew he was evaluating her burns, "Get a damn medic in here!" he yelled as Angie screamed out to him.

"Phosphorus, get out Rollie!"

He was getting a coating as well as several of the crew stood back, not wanting to get themselves exposed. Syd Waterstreet stood back away from the still descending particles of phosphorus that were showering Angie and Rollie. Angie looked at him for only a second as Rollie was trying to cover her in his arms and she closed her eyes, straining to see him again. There was something strange going on, his face was changing back and forth and then she knew and grabbed Rollie tightly.

"Rollie, it’s Syd, oh God- he’s …" she tried to finish but there was a horrendous sound as if the rock ripped out from behind where Syd was standing. A gush of water spewed out and Syd Waterstreet was thrown down to the ground by its sheer force. Rollie was so busy trying to cover Angie that he didn’t understand what she had been saying. The ground shook and the water hit them as well, now flooding the cave. Rollie pulled Angie up in his arms, wading in the water but falling on his knees as the force dragged him down. The phosphorus filaments were extinguished by the lack of oxygen from the water and Angie felt the burning stop in her skin as the water began to grow deeper. It was now up to Rollie’s waist as he reached down to pull her up again.

"No, No!" she screamed out to him in the deepening darkness, grabbing his hand, "let the water cover me!"

Rollie plunged his entire body under the current to completely submerge himself and smother the phosphorus that had contacted his skin. Together, they came up, gagging and gasping for air. The spewing water had eased off and with the water up to Rollie’s chest, they felt for the sides of the cave to guide them. There were 2 lit torches still seated in the cave walls of the interior cave room where they were trapped. Angie could see a completely sealed exit way that would have been the way out. Rock had fallen from the explosion of water caused from the charge detonation. The force of the charge had dislodged the underground spring from its bed and it was filling the cave up where they were now trapped.

"Rollie, what are we going to do?" Angie asked, panicked, grasping his neck as he carried her further down into the cave.

"Hold on, Angie!" he told, trying to think and stay rational. Angie could feel his heart pounding wildly in his chest as she clung to him. Rollie grabbed one of the torches in his hand and they went further still into the cave as he looked for a way out from the other side. They ran into a body floating in front of them. It was the cameraman that had been shooting Dani. Rollie pushed him gently away as Angie shivered. Dani was somewhere in here, she thought wildly.

"Rollie, Dani was in here with the cameraman. Oh my God!" she cried out, looking around for signs of life. Rollie called out then for Dani but there was no reply. They then, both saw a ledge of rock and went for it, climbing on top of it with Rollie hoisting Angie up and then himself. At least they could be out of the water here for the moment. Angie trembled with coldness as Rollie moved the torch around, still searching. They could still hear distant rumbling from the cave interior and below them.

"Here, come here," Rollie said to Angie as he pulled her to him again and rubbed her arms up and down as her teeth chattered. He had laid the torch down on the ledge beside them. He was on his knees holding her, trying to get any warmth he could to transfer from his body to hers. She was bleeding from a cut over her eyebrow and he could see she had various burns on her arms and legs. Her clothes were tattered and falling apart. He pulled the torch closer to them for warmth as he continued to hold her and keep her warm.

"Rollie, did you see what happened to Syd?" she asked him as his cheek rested against hers and his arms rubbed her back vigorously.

"No, you think he is down there somewhere?" Rollie asked, wondering if Syd had made it out or whether he had been killed at the rockslide.

"I saw his face, Rollie- I saw it change from Syd’s face to Lubar’s. I swear, through the phosphorus shower, I saw it fizzle and change!" Angie pulled away and looked at Rollie, his warm, brown eyes fixed on her face.

"Well, that explains a lot," Rollie replied, shaking his head, "I wonder when he did the change?"

"I don’t know- remember, he was Bill Yates for awhile as well," Angie reminded him, shuddering at the close call with Loubar’s attack on her in the stunt trailer.

"Poor Syd, wonder if he is still alive?" Rollie said, remorseful for his old friend, "I just can’t understand why Loubar risked all of this…I mean, he told me in the e-mail he sent me that he wasn’t really through but THIS!"

"There has got to be more to it, Rollie," Angie told him, touching his face with her hand, "I don’t understand why he has been hounding us since the shooting in Central Park?"

Rollie shook his head, dumbfounded. The man wanted something from Rollie. He tried to rack his brain as to why and what. He kept seeing mental images of Loubar’s face asking him over and over for something.

There was a moan. It was low and came from behind them. Rollie picked up the torch immediately to shine light in the direction of the sound. There was a niche in the ledge about twenty feet from them and they could see a white robed figure wedged tightly into the recess.

"Dani!" Angie called out breathlessly and Rollie was up and crawling over to the form barely moving.

"Dani, can you hear me?" Rollie called out to her and reached her side as Angie joined him, crawling across on her burned knees and hands.

The explosion had knocked her into the wall. Angie could see she had a skull fracture and various broken limbs. She was burned over half of her face down to the bone with her lips blistered and charred. She was breathing very slow with shallow intakes as she moaned again.

"Jesus," Rollie said, under his breath, "Dani, love- it’s Rollie!" he told her trying to touch her hand but she moaned louder and opened her eyes. Her once lovely eyes gazed at him in recognition as she noticed Angie lean in as well.

"Rollie…" she whispered, trying to inhale and coughed with exhausted energy.

"Don’t try to talk," he told her softly, as Angie’s eyes began to tear at the sight of the once beautiful model and her grave condition.

"No, I must…." Dani struggled for air, "come closer…"

Rollie moved closer, his ear to her lips as she touched his hand with her own. Angie felt like leaving them but there was no place to go so she sat back in the shadows away from the torch’s light which shone upon them.

She was telling him something, something that Angie could not make out as Rollie moved even closer and tried to hold her in his arms. Angie began to cry, seeing Dani shudder and gasp for air. Rollie’s head was buried beside Dani’s and she heard his sharp intake of air as his shoulders jerked and he fell back on his seat, pulling Dani out, down on his lap. He had tears in his eyes as Angie came back over and put her arms around his shoulders. She could see Dani’s lifeless eyes staring up at him and she didn’t know what to say or do.

They sat there for some time with Angie closing Dani’s eyes finally and Rollie came to his senses after watching Angie very gently pull Dani from his arms and rest her on the ledge in front of him.

"Do you want to know what she said?" he asked, looking up at Angie in the diminished light, for the torch was starting to fade out.

"No Rollie, that was between you and her, I understand," Angie told him, touching his hair slightly.

"No you don’t," he said, with an eerie voice, as his wiped his eyes and came over next to her. He suddenly pulled her into his arms, holding her so tightly she thought he was going to crush her.

"She told me who she was, really was…" he said in her ear, "she worked for Loubar all this time- when we were dating and now…"

"What?" Angie grew tense in his arms and he let go of her, holding only her face in his hands.

"Dani was his lover and his assistant. He had her follow me, spy for him for the revenge of the arms arrest and ultimately, last night- used some gas on me."

"But?"

"He wanted something else from me. She died before telling me all of it but there is still something he wants from me. Whatever it is, he thought he destroyed it with the F/X trailer but it didn’t happen. He searched our rooms for it as well."

"But he tried to kill us!"

"Scare us, I think- but I don’t know. Dani didn’t want him to kill me last night, I can still love her for that…" Rollie said, dropping his hands from Angie’s face.

Angie bit her lip and shut her eyes after hearing him declare he loved Dani. It was as she suspected all along.

"So Loubar as Syd, changed the charge on the last position and it looks like, wanted Dani out of the picture as well," Angie deduced, looking over to Rollie for his opinion.

"I think he wanted Dani dead as well as us- no loose ends."

Angie nodded but then asked him, shaking her head, "But, he could have done that all along, right?"

"Um, I guess so…" Rollie said softly, looking over to Dani’s body again.

"He wants something that even if he killed you, would harm him," Angie continued, trying to piece the whole deception together.

"He IS certifiable," Rollie said, with a grimace, shaking his head, "It certainly would help everyone concerned if he just had asked out right, in his own voice and appearance and stop all this bullshit!"

They were both distracted from their thoughts then as they heard a new roar of rock starting to fall around them. The cave shook and rumbled as Rollie grabbed Angie and pulled her against the cave wall on the ledge with his body over hers.

There was a rush of water and a last shudder from the cave as the ledge that they had been resting on gave way beneath their feet and they were swept off into the black water as it grew higher over their heads, pushing them further down into the cave. The torch was gone and Angie could feel Rollie’s hand grasping the waist of her jeans as she tumbled and spun with the flow of water sending them down into the bowels of darkness.
