They rolled up on the set of Ectoplasmic Ranger and it was if time had stood still.

"The land that time forgot!" Rollie commented as he parked the van and Angie and he stepped out into the early morning air. Crew people was busily dismantling some scaffolding that had been used for long-range camera angles for a fight scene on the distant planet where the movie was supposed to have been based.

"Creepy!" Angie said, behind him, peering from behind him, "where is everyone?"

They walked over to the director’s trailer, a couple of people smiling and waving as they passed them. Some had been at the wedding; Rollie and Angie tried their best to remember everyone and thank them for coming. They heard Ben Poe’s voice talking to someone from within the trailer. He didn’t sound happy.

"What do you mean, I got less than a week? You told me that we had this site for another three weeks!"

"Kiss my ass, you son- of- a- …" Ben Poe was saying to his phone as he stepped out, seeing Rollie and Angie, stopping in mid-insult, "hey guys! Nice day here, huh? Guess you got the message. Glad to see you back. Hope the honeymoon was great. Now, get in here- we got some serious talking to do!"

Ben Poe was a man in need. He had lost his site reserves for the next two weeks and would have to pull up stakes at the end of the week. The producers had pulled out of the 3D venture, after telling him to do it in the first place. His special effects people had gone off and gotten married in the middle of the crisis and he sat, running his hand through his wispy black hair, slamming down his schedule in front of Rollie and Angie.

"Okay, hey Ben? It will be okay, we’ll get started right now. You got crew, cast, and a site right now. We can get the laser fire battle sequences set-up in two hours," Rollie told him, optimistic and reassuring as Angie raised her eyebrows and folded her arms across her chest.

"Yeah, yeah- that’s what I like about you Tyler…you know how to bullshit a bullshitter…" Ben rattled out, laughing in an uncomfortable situation.

"That’s what they say, if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit!" Rollie replied, getting up. Angie stood too and they left the trailer with Ben Poe looking as baffled as ever.

They spent the morning setting the sequences and working out the line steps for target hits. By noon and lunch break, they would be ready to film the action sequence. Everyone took the break with Rollie going to the truck to get a couple of sandwiches for Angie and him. Angie stayed in the van, coordinating computer launch sequences and talking to herself, muttering in her usual style while she arranged the programming.

"Hi there!" came the familiar voice from behind her and she spun around in her chair, seeing Mira coming up the steps.

"Mira!"

"Hey, you look like you put on weight!"

"Yep! Getting married makes you eat!"

"Yeah, and getting pregnant does too," Mira remarked, a frown crossing her face as she sat down and looked at the newlywed back at work.

"So, Rollie around?"

"Yep- gone to the truck to get us, guess what? Some food!" Angie replied, laughing.

"The honeymoon was good, I take it?" Mira asked, grinning.

"Mmm, yes it was!"

"Good, I am glad there is some respect for the institution."

Angie looked over at Mira who was looking dejected, staring at her abdomen and sighing.

"Mira, have you seen Michael since the wedding with Dingo?"

"Nope- and not likely to again. I told him to drop dead, that I never wanted to see his face again."

Her voice was angry and Angie could see the hurt in her eyes. She imagined that Mira was trying to figure out what she was going to do and how the pregnancy was going to affect her job and her life.

"I’m sorry, Mira. I guess I thought that Michael and you would find a common road and go there…"

"Hey, he is the one that always deviates and disappears from the straight path, Angie. I can’t trust him, I can’t depend on him. He will never be Rollie Tyler!"" she blurted out.

"Who will never be like Rollie Tyler?" asked Rollie, hearing Mira’s last words as he bounded up the stairs of the van, carrying the sandwiches in and drinks.

Mira looked up and smiled, "no one…girl talk. So, the married man- you look good for someone who hasn’t had much sleep in a week."

Rollie looked from her teasing face to Angie’s. He never knew what they had discussed and it always made him worry.

"I got some sleep…" he retorted, sitting down, handing Angie a turkey on white bread and a bottled water.

"Mira, you want half my sandwich?" Angie offered, smiling.

"No thanks, I’m still getting use to the morning sickness," Mira replied as she watched the two of them devour their lunch. She shook her head, "you guys have been using up some energy, I see. Well, I guess I should tell you the reason why I stopped by in the first place."

At this, Angie put her sandwich down and Rollie’s curiosity was peaked.

"Oh no," Angie said, for she knew what was coming next. Mira had some need of Tyler F/X for some sort of police investigation. She had hoped that that kind of stuff would slow down for a while but looking at the eagerness in Rollie’s face, she knew that he would never refuse. He had never refused Leo and now, Mira was doing the same thing. They had quite a fight over Leo’s use of Rollie in the past and she bit her lip, thinking back to what had happened to him.

"It’s not bad, Angie!" Mira promised, smiling.

"Yeah, yeah," Angie muttered, looking over to Rollie who was grinning at both of them.

"What’s up?" he asked, popping his knuckles.

"We got this bunch of gypsies coming through town, you know- casing stores, doing their attention spread at the front while the rest of them steal from the back kind of stuff. Well, we also got the big expo going on down at the Garden. People getting ripped off by this crowd as well. There seems to be a king of the gypsies type there, a kind of prophet guy who has set up shop. He is doing the crowds out of a lot of cash, saying he is channeling their loved ones from beyond the grave. Apparently, he’s pretty damn good. He has caught the attention of a local news cast and now, he got the number one ticket down there. There’s more than soothsaying going on down there, Rol. Drugs are going in and out of there like cotton candy. I think the guy is running quite a show."

"Wow, gypsies, tramps and thieves!" Angie remarked, making fun and reminding them of the song as Rollie made a face at her.

"So, you want us to do something to get in there close, see his operation and expose him. See how he’s running the drugs in and out?" Rollie asked her, his mind already cranking.

"Yeah, I say we set up as a great psychic team near his booth. We can watch from there. You can work your F/X magic and get his attention away so that we can watch his operation," Mira told him, simply.

"Tyler, the Magnifico!" Angie announced, raising her arms in the air above her head as Rollie smiled.

"Oh, I like the sound of that, my dear," Rollie said, folding his arms across his chest.

"So, when are we going to have time to do this?" Angie asked, rolling her eyes and looking back at Mira, "we got a pretty tight schedule here and Rollie’s already promised the director miracles here."

"We got to start soon, how about tomorrow night?" Mira asked, "can you come up with some good psychic stuff to get him to take notice?"

"Oh, no problem," Rollie told her, smiling, "hey- we might even be able to use some stuff from this set!"

"Rollie!" Angie warned him but it was useless. When Mira and Rollie started to scheme up things to catch crooks, she was usually left out of the loop.

That afternoon, the sequences went off without a single mistake. They got it down in the first take and the war raged on for the Ectoplasmic Ranger. Rollie and Angie sat in the viewing room, watching the dailies with Ben Poe that evening.

"Great, that laser fire near the Ranger’s boot was close!" Poe said, smiling,

"Angie, you don’t have anything against Roddy Demhurst, do you?" he added, mentioning the actor who played the space ghost fighter with a square jaw and a lot of muscle.

"Nope! He just needed to look a little more shaken up in that shot," she replied, smiling.

"Ah, always trying to get our actors to emote more!" Poe replied, smiling as Rollie slapped her on her hand and she, back to him. Roddy had been a pain in both their sides in a past action thriller- Advance on Galaxy 4. He was a prima donna, moaned a lot, and complained about everything. His acting was abysmal but his physique and looks were getting the attention of the movie going crowds.

"Well, Ben- that’s a wrap for tonight, eh? Ange and me are going to hit the road. We will be back in the morning for round two of the battle against the ectoplasmic creatures."

They both stood and Ben looked up at them, shaking his head, "We got this in one take. God, that was great! I’m so glad to have you guys back!"

"Yeah, put your money where your mouth is…" Rollie told him, grinning as Ben shook his hand and Angie waved at him.

They rode home in silence as Angie stayed glued to her computer in the back, Rollie already coming up with ideas for the expo job for Mira.

"Ange?" he asked, driving slowly down Brewery Lane, "you are okay with this, aren’t you?"

He brought the van to a halt and turned around. She was asleep at the console, her head resting in her folded arms on the table.

"That’s my girl, all tuckered out," he said to himself, as he got up and touched her hair. Her eyes fluttered rapidly and he smiled to himself, wondering what she was up to in her dream.

"Hey, Angie! Come on, wake up so you can go back to sleep inside," he said, shaking her slightly.

"Ummm," she replied, squinting as she looked up, "we were having a good time in Rio," she went on, stretching.

"Rio? Bloody expensive little tart, you are!" Rollie voiced, grinning as he opened the door and they walked out together, his arm around her shoulder.

They went to bed, a full day’s work behind them and another one ready to start in less than five hours. Rollie smiled, thinking it was great to be back in New York, making movies and fighting crime!
