"Park the car!" Rollie cried out.

Surprised by the command, Leo McCarthy, one of New York's Finest, a detective at the Mid-Town South Precinct, slammed on the brakes. "What? What is it, Rollie? Is it a robbery or something?"

"No, just park the car. I'll be right back." With that, the tall Aussie leaped out of the car and sprinted back down the block.

Francis and Angie, sitting in the back, looked at each other, bemused.

"So, what's gotten into Rollie, Angie?" The short dark haired detective asked Rollie's blonde partner.

"I don't know, Frank. But if he doesn't hurry, we'll miss the start of the game." Angie Ramirez peered out the back window, trying to see where her boss had disappeared to.

"Yeah, well, if he doesn't hurry, he may miss the start of the game." Leo grumbled. "Maybe we'll just leave him here. You do have the tickets, don't you, Ange?"

"Right here." Angie flashed the precious game tickets at the two detectives. "Give him a minute, before you take off, Leo. Rol said he wouldn't be long."

"Yeah, well..." Leo was interrupted when the front passenger door opened and Rollie Tyler hopped back in.

"Come on, let's go! We'll miss the start of the game." The brown haired special effects expert grinned at his older friend.

"Miss the start of the game?" Leo glared at his best friend. "Look, it was your idea to stop!" He got a good look at the box Rollie held in his lap. "Doughnuts?!? We stopped for doughnuts? I can't believe you made us stop for doughnuts! Rollie, we just ate!"

Rollie smiled happily, totally unrepentant. He patted the green and white box with a red logo. "Not doughnuts, Leo. Krispy Kremes! Hot Krispy Kremes! Good thing I saw the hot sign come on."

"Doughnuts, Rollie, they're doughnuts." Leo continued angrily.

Rollie opened the box and pulled one out. He thrust it into Leo's mouth.

The older detective's eyes widened in surprise as it just melted in his mouth. "That's good!" He smiled as the treat disappeared down his throat. "What did you call it? It looked like a doughnut."

"Krispy Kremes, Leo. They're called Krispy Kremes." Rollie passed some back to Angie and Francis, before getting one himself. His eyes closed in pleasure as he swallowed his prize.

"Krispy Kremes? Isn't that what you were raving about when you came back from Atlanta, Rollie?" Angie savored the taste as it melted away in her mouth. "Hmmm. You're right, these are good!"

"Hmmhmm," Francis agreed as he licked the glaze from his fingers.

"I've never had a doughnut that tasted like these." Leo commented as he reached for another sticky treat from Rollie's box.

"Yeah, well, just remember they're only this good when they're hot." Rollie smiled and ate another one. He knew the dozen would be gone in another minute. "They get stale pretty quick, but they're not too bad when you microwave them." The Aussie sighed in pleasure, the taste was as rapturous as he remembered. Oh yes! He wondered when they had opened a shop in New York City. He'd been a little afraid they wouldn't taste as good, especially since this wasn't Atlanta, but he didn't need to worry. "Just remember and watch for the hot sign."
