Chapter Four

Angie was pulled out of her drug induced sleep by the pleading voice of Marie Benson.

"Come on, Angie. Please, wake up. Please." Marie cried, gently shaking the older woman's shoulder.

"Oh, what happened?" Angie asked groggily as she pulled herself up into a sitting position against a wall.

"We were kidnapped." Marie answered back quietly, as she moved next to Angie.

"Kidnapped?!" Angie exclaimed. "Who? Why?"

"I don't know. I woke up when we were thrown in here. I'm not sure how long ago that was. The guy who looked like the leader said that 'my brother would pay a hefty price before he got me back.'." Marie informed Angie.

After letting that new information sink in, Angie slowly got up from her seat on the floor. She walked around the small dark room, looking for ways out. No windows, but a dim light lit up the room. The door. Angie was momentarily stunned when she found that on the inside of the door had no knob or lock. There was no way out. Angie then sat back down next to the fifteen year old.

"I'm sorry, Angie." The girl mumbled quietly, looking down at the dirty floor.

"About what, Marie?" The blond woman asked.

"About this. It's all my fault. They just wanted me. Not you. You shouldn't be here." Marie rambled on till Angie placed a hand on her arm.

"Marie, none of this is your fault. From what you said those guys told you this has something to do with your brother. And it especially wasn't your fault that I got involved with this." Angie assured the girl.

The next few minutes were spent in silence. Angie and Marie were startled out of their thoughts by the door opening. In stepped one man with his hands full. Without a word he threw two blankets at the two young hostages and sat a pitcher and a couple tin cups down on the floor. As quickly as he appeared, he disappeared.

Once the man left Angie covered the young girl with one of the blankets and herself with the other. The room was near freezing. Even with the tee-shirt and long jeans Angie and Marie were both wearing.

"Try to get some rest." Angie whispered to Marie, pulling the girl closer to her.
