Chapter One

They had just called for a lunch break on the new movie Angie and Rollie were shooting,  "Gardetto's". Rollie liked the movie, but it was the director he didn't like. The director, Roger Benson, insisted on starting work everyday at six in the morning and not ending till six at night with only a half hour break through the whole day.

On top of having to deal with Benson, Rollie had to keep Angie from getting into a fight with the director who kept interrupting her work. Rollie kept on joking with his blond assistant that the director kept interrupting her because he liked her and wanted to ask her out. Angie got furious with the FX wizard for saying so.

"Hey, Tyler you got a minute?" The director, asked stepping inside the FX van, where Rollie and Angie were eating their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

"If you make it quick. Because of that very tight schedule you're keeping us on, Ang and I have only 15 minutes to finish our lunch then set up the stuff we did for the train crash scene." Rollie snapped back, taking a sip of his water.

"Look, like I said before it's not my fault. The big shot producers want this movie finished in four weeks, and we're already about three weeks behind." Roger Benson told Rollie, waving his hands over his head.

"Yeah, you say that every time you have the script changed and set us back." Rollie said, in a half cheerful tone, as he watched the director steal glances at Angie, who was sitting at the computer, trying to ignore the director.

Before the director could reply to that comment, someone from the van's door, made a clearing-of-the-voice noise.

Rollie looked over the director to see a young girl about fifteen. She had long blond hair which hung to the shoulders, a small group of hair in a braid the rest hanging straight, had on a faded pair of denim overalls, yellow tee-shirt, a brown suede jacket, and a pair of brown leather hiking boots.

"Oh. I'm sorry. Rollie, Angie, this is my sister, Marie. Marie, this is Rollie Tyler, he does the FX work, and Angela Ramirez, Rollie's assistant." Roger told the girl, ushering her into the van.

"Hey." The girl replied quietly, visibly shy.

"Hi." Angie said, dumping her, now empty, plate into a nearby trash can.

"Hello." Rollie said, handing his plate to Angie to throw away.

"Angie, would you mind showing Marie the ambler? She's really into computers, aren't you?" Roger, asked, turning from Angie to his sister.

"Yep. Love them." Marie replied.

"Sure. Come on." Angie said leading the girl out of the van to where the ambler was set up outside of the FX van.

"So, Roger, you wanted something?" Rollie asked, once he and the unbearable director were alone.

"Yeah. Like I just said, my sister is really into special effects stuff and computers, and since she's out of school for the summer, I was wondering......" Benson started.

"If she could tag around with me and Angie while we worked on the movie?" Rollie finished for the director.

"Well, yeah. She really isn't that much trouble. She won't get into your way. And if she does, I won't have her coming around anymore." Roger Benson pushed. "Please. She's a big fan of 'Tyler FX'."

"Okay, if you do one thing for me." Rollie told the other man.

"Sure. Anything. Just name it."

"Leave Angie alone," was Rollie's simple request. He smiled to himself, seeing the man's shocked expression. "She's getting mad and frustrated at you always hovering over her. And she isn't getting any work done because of it. If you want to ask her out fine. Just wait till the movie is wrapped. We got a deal?"

"Um.... Fine. Fine." Benson waved his arms in the air, turned around and left the van. He saw Benson start towards his trailer calling for his sister in the process.

"What's his problem?" Angie asked, coming into the van.

"He wants us to show his sister the ropes, in a manner of speaking, and I said we would if he would do something for me." Rollie told the young woman, smiling down at her.

"And what actually did you want him to do?" Angie asked her boss, curiously.

"Come on, we've got to get that scene set up." Rollie told her, trying to avoid answering her question.

Angie watched confused as Rollie left the van, and she followed.
