Rollie Tyler placed the two cups on the table and dropped onto the couch with a loud sigh… it had not been a good day.  Turning his head, he saw that Angie was in danger of falling asleep… the medic had told him to keep her awake for the rest of the day, suspecting she might have a slight concussion.
' Hey… no dropping off remember' he said, tapping her on the shoulder before leaning over and lifting the cup.

Angie leaned back and then looked over, taking the cup he offered in two hands.  ' This wasn't exactly the best of days for us was it?' she offered.
' Nope… how about we go and see Frankie tomorrow?' he asked ' Steven was on the phone and told us not to bother coming in until next week'
' The film's still on though right?'
' Yep… and guess who just got promoted?' Rollie said with a big grin.
' That'd be right… I get knocked out and you get promoted… typical'
' Actually it's not me it's you… Steven's got something he'd like you to do personally'
         ' Really?  What?'
' You got your wish… more responsibility… you my angel… are taking over the top computing job'
         ' I hope you're kidding Rollie… I couldn’t find my apartment with a map at the moment'
' Hey… you'll do great!  You never let me down… everything's always right on track… you need more confidence'
' Oh… that from the guy who keeps saying he isn't good enough to be the effects coordinator just because it's Spielberg… Rollie take the job… he wants you there, especially now'
' I know… how about this… I'll take the effects coordinator's job… if you take the computer animation director one.  That way it'll be like it normally is, I handle the effects and you handle the computers'
' I like it Rol… ok deal.  Now that's over with… can we get something to eat?'
' You never cease to amaze me… do you know that?'
' Yeah… I'll try and keep it that way'
' Ok… what would you like?'
         ' You have to ask?'
         ' Ok… I'll make the call'

Vanduran walked out of the room, a worried look on his face ' Detectives… a word'
' Yes Captain' Mira replied standing as one with Tony and following him to his office.
' Mr Stein has given us the names of some very influential men and women… who he explains were responsible for the abduction of Mr Spielberg.  He has information, hard evidence of their involvement but he won't release the identity of this place to anyone… except Tyler'
' Oh Man not again… what is it with these people' Tony answered.
' Make the call… we need this information'

Rollie picked up the phone, about to call out for pizza when it rang in his hand, surprising him.
' How'd you do that Rollie?'
' No idea' he answered then turned to the phone ' Tyler… go'
        ' Rollie it's Mira… we… uh… we need you down here'
' What!  Mira, I've just gotten back… I'm beat and I'm meant to be looking after Angie… I can't do it'
' Rollie… you remember Clem Stein?  Well he says he'll only talk to you about the evidence he's got on the people who ordered Spielberg's kidnapping'
' Great… just bloody great.  Ok… I'll be there shortly… but you owe me'

Rollie cancelled the call and looked over to see Angie staring at him impassively.
' Looks like I've got to make a stop at Midtown South'
' I'm coming too… can't sleep remember… we might as well go together'
' I thought we were going together' Rollie answered with a smile, moving across to where she stood and hugging her tightly, glancing down and planting a kiss soundly on her lips.
' Oh we are… and don't you forget it'
' Not likely' Rollie replied, taking a breath and kissing her again.

Rollie took the driver's seat of the red sports car and together they headed to Midtown South, Angie wondering why the man would only talk to Rollie.
' Why you Rol?' she asked at last.
' I guess we sort of got along… he saved us at his own risk, taking a weapon from a police officer is an offence'
' After kidnapping?  Not much of one.  Be careful Rol… I don't want to lose you now'
' You wanted to lose me before?  Gee thanks'
        ' No… you know what I mean'
        ' Yeah… I'll be careful… promise'

Rollie walked in, flanked by Tony and took a seat opposite Clem, who looked surprised to see him.  ' Didn't think you would come' he explained.
' I shouldn't have… one of my friends is in hospital and another has a mild concussion… I'm beat.  Say what you have to say' he answered, sitting down.
' There is a problem with getting the information… it's hidden, and locked in a safe.  By now they will have changed the combination.  The safe is behind the Van Gogh in the study' Clem began.
' Oh come on… why do you want me here if it's unobtainable?' Rollie asked, fuming at wasting his time.
' YOU could get it… we're not so different in size.  If you walked in, pretended you belonged… got access to the safe, I'm sure you'd be able to crack it' Clem answered.

Rollie slumped in his seat… he did not want to get involved in this, not now, not again.
' Where is this place?' Tony asked from his place at Rollie's side.
' The home of Gustav Mazarin' Clem answered calmly.

Rollie looked across the table, Gustav was well known.  To some he was a Russian mobster, to others a wealthy businessman involved in many areas in the city… including the movie business.
' It's because Spielberg came to the independents isn't it… and not to him… he virtually owns the production companies here'

Clem looked across the table at Rollie and nodded ' Good guess… that's one of the reasons… Gustav had a bad time in California when he tried to get into the business… so he moved here and set up shop intent on ruining anyone who came across' Clem explained ' Actually he's probably a fan of yours Tyler…well except for this last job'
' Great… mobster fans… just what I need' Rollie complained.

Angie stood behind the one way glass and laughed quietly at the last, trying to hide the worry she felt at this latest news, silently knowing that Rollie would take part, feeling the man had saved him... and more importantly, her.
        ' Angie…' Mira started.
' Don't say it… you know he'll help' she replied, waiting until the detective left ' but God help you if anything happens to him'

Rollie listened and asked Clem for a map of the place, knowing that Angie could quickly verify it… and to see if Clem told him the truth.
' What about security?' he asked.
' Guards… bolted doors… combination locks…the old man doesn't trust electronics for security… I'd say he's seen too many of your movies' he said to Tyler.
' Put whatever you know down on the map… it all helps' Rollie replied, standing and walking outside, heading into the room behind, noticing Angie still watching, and seeing that as soon as he left Clem no longer talked with Tony.

' Hey' he said stepping up behind her ' Looks like pizza will have to wait'
' Yeah… I'll get on that map in a minute' Angie replied turning to look at him.
' Sorry about all this Ange… gods sometimes I regret ever having gotten involved in all this' he said in uncharacteristic anger, slamming his hand against the glass.
' It's not your fault Rol… you help people… it's who you are… it's what made me love you from that first meeting'

Rollie jumped a little at hearing her say it so easily and he turned back looking across the small space to meet her eyes.  Seeing the expression on her face he replied ' I'm just glad that we finally figured it out… hopefully it'll be over soon and we can get the hell away from the cops for a while'
' That would be nice… I could get used to it'
' We'll have to talk about that' Rollie answered, moving across and putting his arms around her ' and our next date'
' Oh now I definitely like the sound of that' Angie replied, kissing him quickly, aware of footsteps outside the door.

Reaching up she wiped the small red mark off his lips and stepped back just as Mira walked in ' Are you going in Rollie?' she asked.
        ' Looks that way… but Mira… after… I don't want any more jobs… not until I say otherwise… I need a rest' Rollie answered ' and we've got a film to finish'
' I want to see how long you can refuse' Mira replied, gesturing for Rollie to follow her out.
' Bye Sweetie… see what you can find on the house will you?' Rollie asked, turning back to Angie a moment and giving her a wink.
' Sure thing Rol… I'll forward it to your P.D.A' Angie replied ' don't do anything stupid'
        ' I'll see what I can do'
