Jack sighed as he climbed into his truck. Saving Thor had been tough but they got the little guy back from Anubis and Osiris and Hammond had ordered them all on a four day weekend, he knew full well they were still grieving the loss of Daniel Jackson and wanted to give them time to mourn away from the SGC. Jack had readily agreed that Sam and Teal'c needed the time, he himself was going fishing, he was okay, he assured the General.
The drive to the lake had been uneventful and Jack had stowed his gear and groceries in the rented cabin then grabbed a chair and his gear and went to the dock. It was quiet and Jack hoped he just might get a bite this trip.
Several minutes later the silence was broken by music and Jack scowled, until he heard the lyrics of the song playing.

Jack wasn't even aware he was crying as he heard the words.
I'm missing you so much Daniel. I can never just drop into your office and chat again, never just look at you and have you know what I'm thinking.
"Damn it Daniel! Why did you choose that?!?" He raged and cursed until he was spent then a warm breeze ruffled his hair.

"Daniel." Jack whispered hearing the words as another breeze caressed his face and closing his eyes he smiled. He knew Daniel was with him and always would be. He also knew what Jack needed and in his ever subtle way he'd helped his best friend to let go.

"You're free Daniel, go and do what you need to. I'll be here for you too. I love you my best friend." Jack whispered and silence once again ensued then Jack chuckled as the fish jumped out of the lake.
He would be okay now, Daniel had seen to it again.
